An Abstract From My College Life

Dear friends, colleagues and fellow readers. I was in a complete dilemma when I have to choose among a never-ending column of a student or to choose a complex and avid word of working professional, then guess for now I’ll talk to you as a profile of both….The journey from one milestone to other is different long and fierce but sometimes all you have to do is be patient and yes patience teaches you a lot of things and in this varying transition sometimes you may not like what you have received or maybe it can be too early to judge it. Yes, give it time and have a clear goal of your door to happiness as happiness can be anywhere or it’s just nowhere.
After the completion of 12th there are several options and opinions where you want to go or where you want’s the rest of your life to see yourself or maybe you just didn’t know and that was the case with me. I was seeing people and my cousins excelling in their life and cherishing a broad smile, that’s I ever wanted to earn, live and smile, so I’ll say seeing them I chose to do the engineering.
I know everyone does that but that doesn’t decrease what it is, it’s a good option but the time you’re supposed to choose it, you don’t even know what engineering is neither you have any idea what the different branches are there to offer. I wanted to be a graduate in computer science but during the counselling period of my college ( KIIT- Kalinga Institute Of Industrial Technology) all the seats were filled, maybe I wasn’t that of a studious child having an interest in travelling, reading the classics of Dickens and Oscar Wilde, writing the fables and poetries of unseen. I forgot focusing more on the trio (Physics, Chemistry, Math’s) yet at the time of counseling when I went on the stage there were very few seats left in a branch in which my cousins have excelled and because of them, I generated respect for this particular branch. Little did I know that I’ll have to graduate from the branch called Mechanical, in our college, there is a possibility to change your stream if you could manage to earn a CGPA above 8.5 and morbidly I failed in touching that milestone. Now when I look back and see myself at that precise subtle moment I may have chosen some other branch like  IT (Information Technology) or maybe ETC. ( Electronics And Telecommunication) but Mechanical in itself is huge and have a lot of opportunities, if you wants to serve in government sector by scoring a good marks in GATE or even through its marks you can go for higher studies such as M.tech from IIT/NIT or MS if you want’s to study in abroad or you can work as a GTE(Graduate Engineer Trainee) in manufacturing and supply chain management industries or the core sector . The study is mostly based on practical knowledge and my college did manage to provide knowledgeable teachers and the right amount of equipment, even the library is functional enough to provide you with books and other resources. In the later years, the college guides you for the further steps and will also provide you guidelines to do what you desire, but do attend classes and always ask for doubts.
Now talking about placements it’s comparatively low if you fathom with Computer Science or even Electronics background and it goes everywhere for core branches (Mechanical, Electrical, and Civil) as these are basically spread in government sectors and most of the private companies seek experience. Yet several core companies visited the campus like Royal Enfield, Honda, Saporji Palonji to mention few but you should have a good communication skill as well as an in-depth command in your core knowledge. Placements are divided into three major drives like Day-0, Day - 1, Day-2 depending on their packages and the time companies want to visit the organization. The major mass recruiting companies to visit in Day1 and most of the core companies’ visit in Day-2 so if you are willing for a core oriented placement than you have to wait and be patient. As when you’ll see your friends getting placed and celebrate you may hold a fake smile but even you'll start envying them. So don’t worry something better does await for you.
Now talking about something that’s apart from studies and placements let’s talk about something that’s really close to my heart and that’s the whole journey of this 4 years.
You'll make good friends, you'll visit places and you'll realize that the world may not be as small as you think.  Even in 1st year you’ll be told to hail rocks whenever you’ll hear the word mechanical (If you'll opt for Mechanical Engineering), sometimes you can also bunk the classes and make memories (although not advised) but your special talents are just not lost in midway. It stays and college gives you the platform to explore.
I joined Automobile Society to fill the gap between the Mechanical and the Engineer in me but above all I created a group to improve our communication skills hosting Group Discussion, speeches, and extempore, I took part in literary events won debates, became a member of Model United Nations, took initiatives and led the team to make the annual school magazine of our department. It was a blissful journey, had a lot of exposures, and finally, I got placed in Infosys and Accenture of which I have recently joined Accenture and learning a lot with the time. Making a space for myself in this professional world.
